Since the early aught years, people have been using DNA tests to trace their genealogy and ancestry.  The practice of conducting DNA tests to aid family tree research and family history research is known as genetic genealogy, genealogical DNA testing, or anthrogenealogy.  Hobbyist testing for medical information is refered to as personal genomics.

Founder Families. This site provides information about founder families:

• Valentine Weber and Elizabeth Schmitt have more than 100 descendants. Only the paternal line has been tested so far.

• The GOTTESMAN Surname Project was founded in February 2004 and is seeking 2 new participants in 2017.

• The WANDERER Surname Project was founded in February 2004 and is seeking participants from the Crottendorf, Funkstatt, Neuburg, and Salzbach lines.

• The PÖLLINGER Surname Project was founded in March 2004 and is currently seeking additional participants.

• The REIN Surname Project was founded in February 2004 and is currently seeking additional participants.

• The ARKIN & ORKIN Surname Project was founded in August 2007 and is seeking 4 new participants in 2018.
